Romanian Tuesday

It took Romania a little while to get going with the Eurovision. Debuting in 1994, the exertion involved in sending Dan Bittman’s “Dincolo de Nori” to Dublin, only for it to be placed 21st out of 25, seemed too much for the Romanians and it was four years until they reappeared for a second attempt.
They then skipped the 1999 and 2001 competitions (recovering from poor results in 1998 and 2000) but they have since hit their stride, making an appearance every year since 2002 – peaking in third place in 2005 with Luminiţa Anghel & Sistem’s “Let Me Try”.
This year: Elena with “The Balkan Girls”.
