It’s very easy to take a pop at Scientology. Tom Cruise’s batshit behaviour in recent years has provided us with more than enough ammunition to keep us all making wisecracks indefinitely but the sad truth of it is that Scientology isn’t a joke. In fact, the St Petersburg Times in Tampa Bay has been running a huge and rather frightening exposé about the inner workings of the church – as told by those who were once part of it.

The most disturbing revelation? That the church’s executive staff get rounded up, holed up together in a small office building just outside Los Angeles and are forced to play musical chairs to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody for days on end.

Weirder yet, this is apparently how David Miscavige (the leader of the church) decides who gets sent to which of the many Scientology outposts around the world.

Unsurprisingly, the whole thing ends in violence.
