R.I.P Mizzy

Vic Mizzy, composer of The Addams Family theme tune, died on Saturday aged 93. The tune which he wrote, played on a harpsichord and sang (the production company were too cheap to pay for singers so he sang it himself and overdubbed it three times) earned him a pretty penny. as he owned the publishing rights.

Mizzy told CBS’s Sunday Morning show last year: “I sat down; I went ‘buh-buh-buh-bump [snap-snap], buh-buh-buh-bump. That’s why I’m living in Bel-Air: Two finger snaps and you live in Bel-Air.”

Lucky man.

“They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re altogether ooky, the Addam’s family…”
