La Clique
Written by: loullamae

We went to the opening night of La Clique at the Roundhouse last week and it was pretty fantastic. The show mixes circus with burlesque and is very, very funny.

Some of the performers we were treated to on the night were:
Mario, Queen of the circus, Ursula Martinez and the Skating Wilers.
Mario’s crowd management skills meant he had the entire audience singing Queen while he crowd surfed around the stage. He likes to dress like Freddie Mercury and juggle to Queen. Ursula Martinez got very naked and showed us the real meaning of a wizard’s sleeve with her red hanky, while the Skating Wilers’ act was truly scary. Incredible, but scary.

Other acts we’re glad we didn’t miss are the Wau Wau sisters who emptied their beer cans on stage before sharing a trapeze, dressed in fishnets and sporting black pants that read “fuck” and “yeah”; Carl Einer Hackner the stupid magician and Meow Meow, the stunning cabaret singer who can twist herself into any shape. Recruiting two members of the audience to act as her Muscle Marys she made a couple of New Yorkers in the audience squeal with laughter when she shouted: “It’s okay darlings, you’ve just got to get me into the shape of a swastika by the end.”
