Popbitch interviews Lena

The Eurovision has been spoiling us recently. First we had the woodland-creature-charms of Alexander Rybak in 2009 and now the delightful and ever-so-slightly barmy Lena.

Having won the song contest for Germany for the first time in nearly 30 years -- and hoping to repeat the feat at next year’s competition -- she has fast become a Eurovision favourite. So it seemed only right that we get her opinion on a few burning questions.

What’s your favourite shape of pasta?
Tagliatelle.

If we were to look in your fridge, what would we find?
Salad tomatoes, probably some sausages -- salami -- and Coke mixed with Fanta. Do you have that over here? No? What? It’s my favourite drink! You’ve really never tried it? OK. Next time I come over I will bring you some. You introduced me to Dr Pepper, I will bring you Mezzo Mix.

What song would you like played at your wedding?

What’s your favourite word in German?
Pfütze. What is that in English? Puddle? Oh! It’s a nice word in English too! Yes, pfütze.

What’s your favourite word in English?
It’s funny, Stefan Raab (German TV presenter and Eurovision supremo, pictured above) asked me exactly the same question because he wanted to write a song with me. So he asked me my favourite word -- and my favourite word in English is “caterpillar” -- and so we wrote a song about it. Caterpillar.

Favourite ABBA song?
Waterloo.

Do you collect anything?
Eggcups. I used to collect eggcups. I had more than a hundred. Different shapes, some with feet, some green, some black, some with wings. In Germany they’re called “eierbecher”.

Who would win in a fight between a baboon and a badger?
OK, I have got no idea what “baboon” or “badger” is.
