School Jays
Any readers still at school, be warned. If your school has a tight alumni network, you won’t ever get away with telling any fibs about yourself in later life.

I also remember him peforming at our 6th form band night in his old hip-hop group and then getting totally humiliated in an 8-mile style rap battle by my mate Jason. Still, he’s having the last laugh now.”

“Jay Sean is ALWAYS in the OL (Old Latymerian newsletter). It’s particularly hilarious, as most of the news and updates section part of the newsletter consists of stories sent in by alumni – they’re not independently researched by the school or anything. So Jay Sean obviously likes seeing his name in print so much, he makes sure to remind his very white, very middle class, private school upbringing about what a massive reggae star he is (the OL always calls him a reggae artist – I don’t think they really care – it’s all “black people” music to them) at every opportunity. He’s the sort of person who’d write in to tell the school he’s just found a £20 in the street. He’s at least, let’s see, 30, as he wasn’t at the school when I joined. 31 is probably right.”
