1999: Lou Bega – Mambo No. 5

September 30, 2009 – 4:00 pm -

Name-checking all of his conquests in his hit single “Mambo No.5″ obviously proved that Lou Bega had great experience when it came to women, but was just a little indecisive.

Thankfully it seems that he has managed to cultivate some powers of discernment since then -- which is handy, seeing as he got himself a job on the jury in the 2007 Miss Germany competition.

If he was still hung up on Erica, Jessica, Sandra and Rita, then it could have been a very long evening indeed…

1999: Westlife – Flying Without Wings

September 29, 2009 – 4:00 pm -

Westlife are well known for dressing in white suits -- it very much suited their clean, angelic image -- but could there have been another, slightly less wholesome reason for it?

At hometown gigs in Dublin we heard that the bright stage lights turned the suits semi-transparent putting their underwear on show. For the record Shane wears boxers and Kian wears briefs.

1999: Jordan Knight – Give It To You

September 28, 2009 – 4:00 pm -

Jordan Knight might have had the most successful post-New Kids On The Block career but, come the final day of reckoning, his place in heaven will be second to ex-NKOTBer Joe McIntyre.

Not only was Joe a pop pin-up, he was also an accidental mystic healer.

A 3-year-old girl who had been autistic for her entire life was watching a New Kids concert with her older siblings when she suddenly snapped into lucidity, grabbed her mother by the arm and drawled out her first words: “I want Joe.”

1999: S Club 7 – S Club Party

September 26, 2009 – 2:30 pm -

Bradley from S Club has always been a bit of a favourite of ours -  less when he’s singing, more when he’s talking.

He was asked a few years ago at the launch of a swanky London bar by Mutya Sugababe what he’d been up to of recent.

Bradley’s reply? “Keeping it real”.

1999: Daphne and Celeste – Ooh! Stick You!

September 24, 2009 – 3:45 pm -

Daphne and Celeste’s debut hit still sounds as good today as it did way back then in 1999.

Really not very good at all.

(Today is Celeste’s 26th birthday.  Happy birthday Celeste!)
