A one-eyed goldfish called Moshe Dayan. Shortly after he invaded the Golan Heights I found him floating in his bowl.

My cat Cuddles died when she sat under in the car engine of my dad's Morris Minor. He had to dig her out of the fan belt with his bare hands. Poor the Cuddles - all she wanted was to be warm.

My first pet rather than a 'family' pet was a cat i christened Bimballs (don;t ask me why i was 4 ffs) He was given to me by the Gardener( after i fell off my bike and cracked my head open) who we later found out had taken him from a litter of a wild cat that lived near a local stables. He hated everyone but me, scratching anyone that went near him including the dog, went off for days at a time and only slept on my bed. When he got to 16 he was unable to jump up to the kitchen window which was always open so I got a plank for him to walk up....alas it was his kidneys and had to be put down. Although I'm not convinced that my Dad didn't throttle him and lob him over a hedge.

A goldfish called Firestarter which I won at a fair. Considering it was a heatwave weekend and he'd been kept in a plastic bag for hours prior to my arrival its a wonder he lasted the week that he did.

A hamster called Goldie, when I was four. We lived in a house with no central heating. The first winter we had him was very cold and my parents said they had found him curled up and cold so they had buried him in the garden. Many years later we found out that hamsters hibernate.

Titus - a tabby cat. We found him dead in the garden. My brother and I buried him - but not very well. A couple of days later, a fox dug him up and had a good meal courtesy of us. We found the cat's maggot infested corpse a couple of days later.

Mitzi, a cross between a husky and a labrador, had the colouring of a red setter but the blondest eyebrows ever. They had got the dog a few months before I was born, and one day when I was thirteen I cam ehome from school to find that her water bowl was missing, she had been known to wander off for a couple of days when she was on heat always to return, so I didn't think much of the fact that I hadn't seen her in a couple of days. It was the absence of her water bowl that set me off, "Where's Mitzi's bowl? Where is Mitzi?" the, obvious to me now, answeer was "She was put down today" this led to lots of tears, and anger and eventually acceptance.

Lim, an Irish Wolfhound I grew up with that died at the ripe (for them) old age of 11. Fine beast that dog was, fine beast.
